Meet a Jewel Thief - by Amber Leigh Williams

Let me introduce Todd Orso From the Fox & Hound by
Amber Leigh Williams

Hey there, Mr. Orso.

Howdy, ma’am. You can call me Todd.

Is it true you’re a jewel thief?

That’s right. My friend, Mike, and I used to be known as the Invisible Men.

Used to be?

Well, a Lourve job went wrong. I was caught and spent three years in prison. And Mike’s pretty much retired back in Texas. He’s got a family to think about.

So what are you doing out here in California?

Violating my parole. And I went after the woman who put me behind bars.

Why don’t you explain the Louvre job that went wrong?

I can do that. Mike backed out because he thought there was an Interpol link. I went ahead solo. When I got into the diamond’s showroom, there was someone already there.

Who was he?

She. Celestia Armstrong—another jewel thief. A really...intriguing jewel thief. Probably the most intriguing thief I’ve ever know.

Moving on…

Yeah. Anyhow, she grabbed the diamond before I could and disappeared. A bomb went off and launched me off my feet. The guards caught me before I could escape.

So when you got out of prison, you went looking for her?

I planned on killing her.

And why didn’t you?

She stirs me up. And she just happens to be sort of innocent. Her partner at the time, a Spanish dude named Tito Bandero, cheated her out of the diamond. She’s really burned about it. I suggested we partner up and go after him. It’ll be tricky. He’s a master thief, which means he’s one of the best.

You don’t sound impressed.

I hate him.

You’re going to kill him?

Nope. We’re going to hit him where it hurts. Right in the ego.

How?

He’s going after three of the most famous diamonds in the world. But we’re going to steal them first.

Ah...I see. How are things going between you and your new partner?

She thinks she’s running the whole show. Can’t say she’s as easy to work with as Mike though she’s certainly better to look at.

Does she still…intrigue you?

Endlessly.

Sounds like you’re mixing a little business with pleasure, Todd.

I wish. She’s playing hard to get right now. But you just wait. She won’t be able to dodge around this Invisible Man for long.

But you said you aren’t an Invisible Man anymore.

No, we’ve got new codenames. Fox and Hound. She’s the fox. It’s fitting. She’s a foxy lady.

Cute. Sounds like you’re in for an interesting ride.

You got that right. I’m attracted to my partner, the target just happens to be her ex-fiancĂ©, and the diamonds we’re after are some of the most heavily guarded jewels in the world. Tell me, how much more interesting can it get?

Note from Amber:
I’ve always loved stories about thieves. I think Fox & Hound began stirring in the back of my mind after I watched The Italian Job on a girls’ night at my friend’s house back in high school. The question I’ve pondered over for the longest time: where the heck did Todd Orso come from? For the life of me, I can’t remember. All I know is one day he didn’t exist and the next he was knocking on the walls of my imagination, charming me to put him on the page.

It worked like magic. I’ve written fourteen romance manuscripts, and I always hold a soft spot for my men. But there’s something that keeps me coming back to that lazy Texan in his faded jeans, wearing that irresistible smirk, drinking his Black Jack. While Celestia was a fascinating woman to write, Todd was just downright fun. My first hero—from a historical—was hard to get right. I revised the book several times just to get his character spot on. Todd came to me signed, sealed, delivered—wrapped up in a big white box with a bright red bow on top! He’s the sweetest present my muse has ever given me.

Almost as much as I love Todd, I love Fox & Hound. It was the manuscript I kept going back and reading, editing to get just right. I never had to revise. The plot flowed onto the pages without hitch. Though I wanted my first book, the historical, to sell first, I pushed Fox & Hound out there, hoping someone would love it as much as I did.

Finally, I found someone. And here for you is Todd Orso. I hope you love him and my debut novel Fox & Hound as much as I do! To read an excerpt from Fox & Hound or to watch the book trailer stop by www.amberleighwilliams.com!

If I had diamonds, I think I may have to 'invite' Todd to come steal mine. Great interview! I can't wait for the book. :)
